Callaway C7 GT3-R Is An Absolute Carbon Fiber madness!!

After two years of development, Corvette specialist tuning outfit Callaway has just revealed its C7 GT3-R in Germany, the carbon fiber-tastic successor to the C6 Z06.R GT3. The new race car already meets all GT3 class and FIA rules and regulations. Power, of course, comes courtesy of Chevrolet’s own 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that’s now been tuned to pump out some 600 horsepower. It’s mated to an X-Trac six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters.

Official performance figures haven’t been released just yet, but Callaway claims the car surpassed predicted performance. What’s also evident here is all of that new bodywork. We’re told much of the redesigned body is composed of lightweight carbon fiber. Note the new flared front and rear wheel arches, side exhausts, restyled front fascia, and that massive rear wing. Callaway says production will begin in 2016 with the hope the C7 GT3-R will be used “for many years to come.”
